Thank you very much for your interest in Magnum® Board Products. Magnum Board® is one of the only NEGATIVE CO2 building materials in the world. CO2 is a heavy odorless colorless gas formed during respiration and by the decomposition of organic substances. Generally C02 is absorbed from the air by plants in photosynthesis. Now Magnum Board does virtually the same thing.

What is Is Magnum Board®?

Magnum® Products are a mineral based product manufactured in ambient temperatures thus meeting the criteria established to be considered both Eco-friendly and a Green Building Material. Refer to our “MSDS” for more constituent and safety details.

Is Magnum Board® considered a Green Building Material?

Yes. Magnum® Products are mineral based, completely free of toxins such as asbestos, formaldehyde and silica, are manufactured at ambient temperatures, and are classified as green building materials.

What Are the Adhesion Values of Magnum Board®?

Excellent allowing you to finish Magnum® Products with any product you desire such as paint, Portland type stucco, synthetic stucco, wallpaper, stone, tile, brick and more. The excellent adhesion properties of Magnum® Products also make them perfect products for Structural Insulated Panels (SIPS), Exterior Insulated Finish Systems (EIFS) and interior wall systems using fabrics.

Is the Cost of Magnum Board® Competitive with Other Products?

When considering overall installation and life cycle costs, absolutely. By using Magnum® Products you eliminate insect damage caused by termites, carpenter ants and other such pests; decay caused by moisture and UV; warping, swelling and wood rot caused by water; mold and mildew; and, toxins that are found in many wood, plastic, gypsum and cement based products.

Can I Special Order Non-Standard Sizes?

Yes. Our product envelop is 4’ wide maximum and 12’ long maximum. We can manufacture any size within that envelop.

Is Magnum Board® Easy to Install?

Yes. Magnum® Products install with screws or pneumatic nailers depending on the application. Always follow the Magnum® Products installation instructions developed for all our materials. Finishing interior walls and ceilings is also easy using standard joint compound and “Fiba” brand fiberglass joint tape. Since Magnum Board® Sheathing is smooth on one side, a level 5 drywall finish can be achieved with much less work (man-hours) than typical gypsum board and the product is much more durable thus reducing maintenance costs. When installing Magnum® underlayment or Magnum backer board there are no changes in preparation for installation from processes being used today when installing other materials; however, we recommend using only thin set materials, not mastics. Refer to Mapei prepared install directions for backer board and underlayment wet area applications.

How can Magnum Board® Be Finished?

Magnum Board® can be finished with just about anything on the market today including paint, Portland type stuccos, synthetic stuccos, wallpaper, plaster, brick and stone and much more. We have been endorsed by most of the major suppliers such as Master Wall, Acrylabs, Mapei, Surecrete, Carpenter Stone and many others. We have enclosed some literature from Acrylabs and Master Wall for your review. As with most products, these manufacturers have local representation to guide you and in some cases contractors to perform the installation.

How Does the Magnum Board® Product Warranty Compare to Other Product Warranties?

Magnum Board® Products are warranted for thirty-(30) years. You may obtain a copy of the warranty by contacting our home office. No other construction material even comes close to the Magnum Board® Product Line warranty.

Why use Magnum Board®?

Magnum® Products are unique products that have been engineered to eliminate the toughest problems facing Architects, Engineers, Contractors, Builders and Consumers today: Fire, Water, Insects, Mold, Mildew and Toxins. Magnum Board® products are virtually impervious to fire, water and insects; are non-flammable and non-combustible; do not feed mold or mildew; are unaffected by all insects such as termites and carpenter ants; and is completely non-toxic. Literally billions of dollars are spent every year as a result of damage caused by these problems and more on the illnesses and deaths directly resulting from these problems.

To What Certifications Have Magnum Products been Tested and Certified?

Magnum® Products have been subjected to some of the toughest testing being conducted on building materials today including the freeze / thaw which consists of many cycles to ensure the integrity and longevity of the materials. Magnum® Products have also been subject to the 2,000-hour weathering test which is a 20-year accelerated weathering test that includes heat, cold and rainy conditions and all our products exceeded ASTM requirements. We have completed testing required by AC386 issued by the International Code Council (ICC) and in accordance with ASTM requirements including Underwriters Laboratory (UL) rated fire wall. Magnum® Products have also been tested to Canada’s CCMC and to the European Union’s CE fire testing Our factory is ISO certified and, in addition to our own American Quality Control team, is audited on a periodic basis by both the ICC and UL helping to ensure consistent quality on every order. How Does the Weight of Magnum Board® Sheathing Compare to Other Sheathing Products?

Comparing a 4’ X 8’ X 1⁄2” sheet of material:

Gypsum Sheathing: 52 pounds

Portland Cement Board: 122 pounds

Magnum Board®: 72 pounds

Magnum Board® is light in comparison to similar sheathing products and yet is much more durable and is green.

Is Magnum Board® Safe for Installers?

Yes. In fact, installing Magnum Board® is as safe if not safer than installing any other material on the market today. Being a mineral based product, Magnum Products are free of carcinogens and silica. Magnum® Products have been tested to the U-Pitt Toxicity Protocol required by New York City, NY and has been found to be non-toxic. So, Magnum Products are extremely safe for installers and consumers alike. You may obtain a copy of our Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) from our website.
